Description

Printable LED fan holder to generate a really cool and affordable Doctor Strange effect for your cosplay / Halloween costume!

Shout out to Adam Savage for retweeting my costume :) Here is the tweet with a video of the part in action! https://twitter.com/shannenp7/status/1185681546390491136?s=20

These holders are compatible with the USB LED programmable fans I listed in the "materials section" below. The fit isn't perfect, and will most likely vary depending on your printer/print settings. Might require a bit of tape on your fan in order to get it to fit snuggly, and I also glued some gauze to the edges of the finger slots to make it more comfortable. There is a right and a left version uploaded-- just mirrors of one another.

The fans I listed come with a disk so you can program the fan to display whatever you want. I had mine display all green hearts, with immediate appearance/exit and a spinning animation in between.

To power them up, I used 2 USB to USB extension cords (also listed in materials section) which I already owned and stringed them into a small drawstring bag hidden underneath the cape. They were plugged into a portable battery I borrowed with two ports. The fans were kept snug on my arm using the two sweatbands you see in the video, but you can use tape or something else instead.

So, in short, the materials you need are

2 USB LED fans (~$15 each)
2 USB to USB extension cords
Portable battery (generic)
Something to keep the fans on your arm (you could do sweat bands or tape)

Not too expensive way to generate a cool, magical effect!! :)
