Description
Another Sardinian carnival mask (from Mamoiada), Mamuthones carry a heavy load of cattle bells, making them walk along the parade with a slow and dull pace, remaining silent (and their torn, black mask stresses further their "mood"). The mask origin is uncertain. Some scholars believe it represent a totem ritual, celebrating the taming of bulls. Others hold it to be true that they might be related to some ancient nuragic (a long lost sardinian civilization) rites, held in honor of agriculture / nature gods.
Starting from Kongorilla's low poly mask, I created a Mamuthone mask. It comes in three flavours: big mask (about 6 cm in height), pendant (3 cm) and earrings (2 cm in height each). the pendant and earrings walls are thicker, to make them sturdier.
