Description

This is a 3D printed fuselage for RC plane. Wings come from SkySurfer 1400mm wingspan, but you can mount your own wings. I attach SolidWorks file, so you can adjust project to your wings.

Original SkySurfer is great motor glider but I did not like idea of pushing prop behind wings (I'm not FPV pilot). Moreover I wanted some higher stability and rigidity than EPP foam fuselage. So I created this model. And I'm happy with it, IMO it performs better than original.

You can see how it flies here:

The nose was printed with TPU filament in order to ensure shock absorbance due to plane crash the ground. However geometry still provides enough stiffness to hold the motor inside. Prop is folding so it won't generate additional drag during gliding and also it won't collide with ground during landing. The fuselage was printed with Nylon PA 12. Great material ensuring stiffness, lightness and great layer adhesion. On the back I mounted carbon fiber square hollow rod. Plane ready to flight weights around 700g.

What do you need:

  • 3D printed parts
  • SkySurfer 1400mm wings and stabilizers (or similar)
  • motor - I used A2212 1000kV, you can use stronger motor
  • ESC - I used 30A 3-4S
  • battery - I used 3S 2200mah
  • radio and receiver
  • prop - I used folding prop 8x6
  • carbon fiber square hollow rod 8x8x450
  • 3-4 servos

Nose and fuselage have snap-on connection but it is good to secure them also with glue. Mount everything together and add some thermoglue on loaded connections. Fuselage have some compartments and some parts to hook your electronics.
