Update 5/26/2022: This model is no longer available for download from thingiverse because apparently this model is being sold with a "royalty free" license on several websites and still others are selling prints. This inappropriate activity is in violation of the non-connercial license I set up when I uploaded this model. Sorry, one person ruins it for everyone.
The non-commercial agreement is very important, and makes me comfortable with posting my best, high quality models. Please support high quality work on thingiverse by not allowing people who choose to share content here to be exploited for profit.
-Original Posting-
This is a model of the fictional space fighter, "Viper MKII", from the science fiction show, "Battlestar Gallactica". It was a pretty good show and I thought the ships were cool. This model was fun to do- I think I whistled the theme song about 100 times... I've got it out of my system now. I modeled my own supports for FDM. If you are not using FDM, I've provided a model with no supports.
Notes:
1.) Remember to merge solids when slicing, as the model is a composite of several smaller models.
2.) Scaling changes how the supports that I designed fit up to the model... see if it works for you. If in doubt, you can always print the model with generated supports.
3.) I recessed the guns under the wing for a stronger, more reliable print.
Update 12/9/2019 -
By request, I added a stand for the model to sit on. Also made some changes to the vehicle model. Moved the fans in the intakes closer to the opening for more visibility and easier painting. Added a notch in the bottom for the stand. Improved the custom supports. The stand and vehicle are at the same relative scale- remember to scale both to the same desired scale! I test printed the parts and they fit and print fine and fit together just so. Have fun!
