Locking medicine cabinet shelves

Here are my lock in place corner medicine cabinet shelves.

I was tired of the glass shelves in our corner medicine cabinets flipping off the supports when pressure was placed in the wrong place so I designed a shelf that would lock them in place on the existing support clips. Once in place the shelf can't flip out of the cabinet or slide in any direction. But, it is still removable.

The shelf requires a printer that can handle an 11" square print area. This is larger than many common printer bed areas so I also designed small clips that can be glued to existing shelves using the same style of supports.

If printing the small clips print one of the shelf clip lock design and two of shelf clips. The locking one will always go in the back corner on the side with the two shelf supports. You can print two of the locking ones if you want but they must go on the same side of the cabinet or you will lock your shelf in place and not be able to remove it.

To install a full shelf you slip the side with the two clip slots over the clips and drop the shelf onto the third one. This will secure the shelf and keep it from being able to flip or move in any direction. The glass can be placed on top of the shelf if you want with a few drops of glue to hold it in place.

To use the small clips you might need to sand the top surface to get a very smooth surface and clean the glass or surface they will be glued to with Windex. Place the clips on top of the shelf supports moving them towards the outer edges with the locking one at the back corner. Put 4-5 drops of super glue (I used Krazy glue) on the top surfaces of clips (away from the back edges to allow for spreading as it squishes) and place the glass on top of them moving the shelf all the way into the supports. Gently press down in the center of the shelf for 30 seconds and let it cure. To keep from gluing the shelf to the existing supports if the glue squishes out towards the back you can place a piece of plastic wrap over them first.

When removing the shelf or reinserting it when using the small clips the single clip on the side might require the support to be rotated as shown in the close up picture to drop in place or release the shelf.

The clips are Cura scaled and oriented for printing to give the strongest hoop direction around them.
