I recently decided to move a soldering station into my office, mainly just for ease of use. Due to the close proximity to a 'living space' air filtration is important. I designed a simple carbon filtered extraction fan mount/holder for the station. Admittedly this project was mainly made out of parts I had lying around so i'm not sure how useful this will be to anyone else.
There are three parts to this design...
- Main Fan/Filter holder
- Soldering station fan mount
- Control box
The soldering station used was at the time of purchase the 'Best Seller' on Amazon. It can be found here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0719H8T8Q/
Everything other than the fan mount for the station will work for anything though, and it should be easy to create something to hold the fan up in your specific circumstance.
The Control box includes a
Micro USB breakout board, an
XL6009 Step Up boost converter, a
5mm LED and a random switch.
As the project was made from things I had lying around, I had an old microphone 'pop' filter. This had a handy metal bendable pole. The Pole is 8mm thick so you should be able to find something similar quite easily. If you want to use the exact thing I did then I will provide a link to a listing. https://ebay.us/sqDV1E
The pole is held up at the station side with a bearing (LM8UU). I do strongly recommend using the 'Igus DryLin' type of bearings as the ball bearing type may get caught on the pole.
