Description
Saw Fuferman's chemical bottle opener and was excited to solve a constant aggravation of mine. The lids on the acetone and paint thinner cans are so tight, prying with various screwdrivers and instruments seem to deform the lids and even closing them is tough. I needed something a little more substantial to withstand the opening force and not shear the tab of mine. I beefed up the part doubling the pry tab thickness and gave it a more substantial top surface to help close it as well.
I print this on its side so the layers end up vertical and cut thru the cap symmetrically. While stacking layers vertically looks much nicer and gives truer arcs, layer adhesion is weakest part of 3D modeling. Pressure needed to pop the lid off can easily snap the tab by peeling layers if printed in the in use orientation. For this part I used 40% infill, supports everywhere, and used a brim for adhesion.
