Description
I've looked at a number of Dremel cut off designs but they never seem to fit my Dremel tool. Hence I decided to construct my own using my own Dremel tool and some scrap 2020 open beam I had laying around.
The 2020 rails can be any length you want, I use used some 300mm ones so I didn't have to cut them down in length.
The sled itself has four posts that rest on the recessed screws that hold the Dremel tool together. I haven't found any need to clamp the Dremel down since I am the "stepper" that's guiding the tool bit. Plus it makes it easy to lift on and off to use for other purposes.
The carriage wheels are the delta printer nylon ones and I tested with 21mm and 23mm diameter ones. They mount to the sled with M5x16.
The feet are mounted with M3x10 screws and I use M3 T-nuts to hold the ends onto the rails.
For cutting, I use a fairly heavy vice and take my time cutting. In the photo I was shortening a heat break tube and it was really easy to do with the Dremel Sled...
