Description
I wanted to modify the cut angle the phone sits in so it would stay open better, but there was no customizable cad file, so I redrew this from scratch in OpenSCAD.
This part isn't perfect, extreme values may cause parts to not meet properly. (I might fix this eventually, especially if I get feedback.)
And since I was messing with this anyway and trying different angle values, I went ahead and added an option to have multiple hinge links, which works better for larger tablets but still lets it fold.
The original used a 15 degree lean angle, and this one defaults to that as well, but a 10 degree angle seems to work better.
I've included the 3 best variations I've tried as STL files. Note that two of these use a 16mm device slot, which works well for tablets but is too loose of a fit to be stable with most phones. The 11mm version works better for phones.
The three orange parts in the top left picture were printed from the 3 stl files posted here.
The multiple hinge parts show different hinge phases. The ornage part is phase 0, the transparent part is phase 1. The extra links allow greater separation and a bit more support in the back, both of which helps with tablets.
UPDATE: i'm not happy with the 10 degree lean angle, it's not comfortable for usage. I'm currently working on a better version of this with some of the bugs fixed.
(I haven't liked the results from trying to fix this, I just started over with thing:4165735 but I may come back to this one and fix it, especially if I get comments asking.)
