Description
I had an old Qi charging pad sitting around just collecting dust. I bought it quite a while ago but after switching phones I ended up with on that didn't support wireless charging.
A couple weeks ago I bought a pair of wireless earbuds that can charge using the Qi standard.
I quickly grabbed my old charging pad and realized that it used the Micro USB connector for power. Since I switched most (if not all) of my mobile devices to USB C a while ago I was looking for a DIY way of also converting the charging pad.
Searching the internet I found cheap breakout boards for USB C plugs. So I took apart the old charging pad and took out the electronics on the inside. Resoldered the power inputs to the corresponding pins on the USB C board and designed a simple case to put the newly assembled electronics into.
I know that this design is very specific to my use case but maybe you get some inspiriation on how to handle these kinds of "problems" yourself.
