Description

I was somewhat unsatisfied by the various door options available as D&D miniatures. The walls appeared great and the doors where great but I couldn't find any that I liked that actually opened. The closest I could find were a pain to print and needed some sort of pin to act as a hinge.

So when I found a freestanding opening door by Virtually Jason that that printed in one part with a working hinge I decided to remix / merge with the dungeon stone square door by VolkovNB. The net result is a openlock dungeon stone doorway that prints with a working door that's already attached. I did print the lintel separately but that's easy to glue on the top once it's printed.

I have created a single and double wooden door and a jail door. I may add others if I see doors that I like and lend themselves to converting.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the results. When I printed on by FDM reprapguru i3 mk2 with a 0.4mm head and a 0.1mm vertical step the hinge seems to work beautifully every time (I've printed 4 successfully so far). You do need a sharp knife to cut the already included supports that hold up the door during printing but that's all - it prints fine without any additional supports.

Given the fine tolerances I wouldn't like to bet on it working with a 0.2mm rise.

I also uploaded a mini print of just the hinge. If you aren't sure if this is going to work on your printer to can try this (again it doesn't need supports). I'm also hoping others will use this hinge in there own creations so we can have more doors, cages, etc that can open. The only real requirement beyond the tolerances is that the hinge needs to be vertical.
