Description

A few years ago, in the middle of winter, the interior rearview mirror of my Nissan Cube breaks. I go online to see what my options are (as it bolts to the roof of the car rather than sticking to the windshield) and discovered this was a known issue and a dealer was going to charge me something in the neighborhood of 90USD just for the mirror. I said, "Nuts to that!" and bought a generic suction cup mirror from Amazon. That worked well enough in the interim until a few weeks ago when it simply refused to stick.
I gave in to my roommate's demands and went looking again for a proper replacement. eBay pulled through and showed me secondhand interior mirrors for about 30USD. I ordered one and found out my original mirror had actually broken in two places.
Remember how I said it bolts into the roof instead of sticking to the windshield? Well, it actually bolts into a plastic piece of crap that is in turn bolted into the roof of the car. I call it a piece of crap because, for whatever reason, the central hole that the main bolt threads into is suspended on a web of thinner bits of plastic. I think they're meant to accommodate wires in the more souped-up or otherwise decked out versions of the car (back-up cameras, dash-cams, etc.), but this is apparently the other half of the known issue with broken mirrors. In fact, if you were to look up many of these used mirrors on eBay quite a number of them have that middle circle still attached to it. I went to Amazon again and found a replacement piece of crap for the sum total of about 13USD.
"Nuts to that!" was uttered once again and I opted to just bloody make one. In fact, I made two just in case that little groove between two of the mounting holes is actually for something. In any case, I've posted 2 versions of the code.

One final and important note: I lost the original bolt that held my mirror in place and whatever kind of screw it's supposed to be is some kind of trade secret, because I couldn't find any intel on it. I found a 10-32 screw that fits the bill just about right, but you may or may not have access to such a specific fastener (which is a 5USD word for screws and such). I've commented the section of code that pertains to it, so I encourage you to find whatever works for you. As for the 3 mounting holes, those are made specifically for the bolts that hold it to the roof of the car, so if you don't have those, I also cannot help you.
