A modification of Guillaume74's spring mod for the Saitek/Logitech X-55/X-56

I liked Guillaume74's design, but the springs I used have a closed loop and would have needed cutting to fit the support ring, and when it was installed on the knurled nut on the bottom of the stick, it made the stick very hard to remove from the base, so I made my own design. It uses angled vertical posts so closed or open loop springs will fit (and possibly also elastic bands), and is also a two-part design so it can be installed and removed easily.

Instructions:

Print two copies of Joystick Ring HALF.stl. I used 5 top/bottom layers and 8 walls for strength using cheap, generic PLA filament. Layer height was 0.15.

Remove handgrip and factory installed spring on your X-55/X56.

Reinstall handgrip

Using 2x M5 bolts and nuts attach the two halves of support ring around the grey knurled nut at the bottom of the handgrip and tighten. Fit should be loose enough to let the printed part rotate on the nut, but not sloppily loose. You can tighten the fit by sanding each half slightly across the flats where they join.

Use either Guillaume74's parts to connect the springs to the joysticks's mounting holes, or use M6 bolts to secure them.

Springs I used:
Spareex S.11098 Tension Spring, Spring Ø9.5mm, Wire Ø1mm, Length: 75mm.

I've also included the Fusion360 file for reference as well and the 3mf file that I used to print.

Some things to note:

You may need to re-calibrate your axis in the Saiktek/Logitech RHINO software. The springs I use seem to have a tiny amount of variation in pull strength which affects the centre position slightly. It's not massive, and is easily fixed with a re-calibration and/or small deadzones but I'm working on a design to allow each spring's tension to be adjusted individually.
