Description
For orchids that like to air out after watering. You see wood baskets sometimes with this much exposed surface area but I wanted a vase or pot shape to match my other orchid pots. Also, the wood baskets eventually end up rotting from multiple soakings, and I'm tired of soaking an older wood basket and having it come apart in my hands due.
The settings to use a very very small amount of support material during the print are in the photos, using Simplify3D for reference. The basket's diamond pattern is a 45-degree angle, so except for the rim, no support is needed. You could try to string the rim if you have really good setting for stringing (meaning make a horizontal line of filament without support underneath, a special technique) but I think this is cleaner.
I used a TTYT3D rainbow metallic silk filament.
