This clamp was designed with the support and counseling of medical professionals, to be used in the orotraqueal intubation of COVID19 patients and other patients in the intensive care unit, to protect the professionals from infection. The biggest difference from other clamps is the possibility to use it and remove it at any time without any disturbance to the equipment already being used. This way, it is never an additional weight on the tube while being practical and versatile. The clamp has 2 parts to accomplish this feature. It was tested in 7mm and 8mm internal diameter tubes in running water. In the former, it seals the passage completely and in the latter almost completely (above 95%, I would say), as it can be seen in the video. The same video shows how to apply the clamp.

It was printed in high resolution settings (0.12mm per layer) and 100% infill just for safety reasons but I think it can be printed in much lower resolutions and lower infill, which I will test later.

The clamp was designed with the purpose of helping the medical professionals in this process of intubation, while protecting their health and to be the most practical possible. As far as I know, the commercial alternatives are not optimized for this process and some alternatives are not removable.

I would like to add too, this is NOT a tested piece and to reinforce it was developed as an extra help, if needed. If this is going to be used, you should use it at your own advice, with extra careful measures and test it first, please.

Esta clamp foi desenhada com o suporte e aconselhamento de profissionais de saúde, para ser usada na intubação orotraqueal de doentes de COVID19 e outros doentes das Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos, para proteger os profissionais de possível contágio. A maior diferença de outra clamps é a possibilidade de esta poder ser colocada e removida a qualquer altura, sem qualquer distúrbio ou alteração do material e equipamento utilizados. Desta forma, nunca é um peso adicional no tubo, mantendo-se na mesma prática e versátil. Para tal, a clamp é composta por duas partes. Foi testada em tubos orotraqueais de 7 e 8mm de diâmetro interno, em água corrente da torneira. No de 7mm, a vedação parece ser total e no de 8mm, quase total, como pode ser visto no vídeo. Este mesmo vídeo demonstra como utilizar as peças.

Foi impressa em alta resolução (0.12mm por camada), com 100% infill, por razões de segurança, mas creio que pode ser impressa em resoluções muito mais baixas com infill menor, que testarei também.

A clamp foi desenvolvida para ajudar os profissionais de saúde neste processo de intubação, protegendo simultaneamente a sua saúde, da forma mais prática possível. Do que sei, não parecem haver alternativas comerciais optimizadas para isto e outras alternativas não são removíveis.

Queria ainda adicionar que esta clamp não foi testada por mim em contexto clínico e reforçar que foi desenvolvida como uma ajuda extra, apenas se necessária. Se for usada, usem-na com responsabilidade, cuidados adicionais e testem-na antes, por favor.
