Description
INTRODUCTION
This is a design of a simple engine mount for a model RC boat. It is intended for a type 600 electric motor, or any motor with 37mm diameter and minimum length of 52mm. The resulting model is simple and tough enough.
MATERIALS
1 x Forward lower support (printed, PLA)
1 x Rear lower support (printed, PLA)
2 x Upper supports (printed, PLA)
2 x Stringers (printed, PLA)
4 x M3 bolt 10 mm
4 x M3 lock inserts
BUILDING
I printed all the parts with a XYZ Davinci Jr, medium infill (50%). Very solid and accurate. The six parts have been printed using white PLA.
After printing, trimming and minor sanding, I re-drilled the four holes to 3mm drill. The I glued them in place together using cyanoacrylate. Then I put the inserts in place (only one third of the insert will easily fit into the hole), and then pushed the insert in with a previously heated solder. To get a better grip between the motor and the mount I sticked some fabric filling in the inside part of the four supports.
