Twin Row Cable Holder

There are a lot of cable organizers, but I didn't find a twin row design for efficiently storing (and easily accessing) a LOT of cables in a limited space. So I did a quick own design, initially for USB Cables, later enhanced for bigger types.

What's in the box:
There are two "long" cable holders with different spacings. The 6 mm version (21 cm wide) works fine with USB, network, and audio cables (see lilac, white and blue prints). The 8 mm version (green print, 20 cm wide) holds power and video cables of all sorts. Furthermore I added a small box of appropriate dimensions for those things missing a cable (adapters etc.)

I printed them with an ender 3, which can handle a 21 cm print without problems. For those of you limited by a smaller printer/workspace I added short versions (see suffix of filenames) which should fit on a 10 cm bed.

The lilac one (left to the yellow box) was my first test print. It dropped immediately after print and landed on a concrete floor, which persuaded two arms to break (see bottom right). I fixed them with a 3D pencil and added an invisible inner "tunnel" to increase stability. But this print had an overall bad quality, which - as I found out later - came from a new nozzle with a bad diameter. This might have reduced the stability as well. You might notice that the yellow box suffered from the bad print quality, too.

Trivia: These things are an indirect result of corona. Having to work in home office for 5 weeks now meant to heavily use my small "electronic lab", which in former times already had a - uh, quite "heavily used" look. The cables hanging behind the door were just held by parallel screws and loved to fall of in bundles every time I moved the door. So I focused on a holder which stops the cables from falling, which works really well.

Because of the stacking (3 to 4 usb cables fit in one slot) you still may have to move several cables to get to the needed one. But now the neighbouring cables stay tight and don't come down in cascades any longer, which is a pleasure and a relief for my tired spine.

Sharing things means some extra effort by presenting them, but I really like the idea of "common online brainstorming", meaning sharing ideas to evolve the outcome beyond my own imagination.
