#####This is not finished project - just started and in progress. Wish to participate? Leave comment. I surely welcome any help ... even with maintaining this page or BOM.
####WHAT
I want to say something about my design choices and where I want my project steer. I am a fan of Openbuilds V slot system and while there are available cheap linear rails I believe that in longer-term and maintenance wise V slot wheels are a good choice. The printer will have dual Z dual stepper setup, SKR board, BlTouch, BMG direct drive with volcano hotend, and Z anti-backlash Delrin nuts. Aim is a machine for big prints with 0.6 or 0.8 mm nozzle.
####WHY
Simple: I wanted a bigger printer and tests some ideas without big investment and didn't want to end up with a bunch of parts left after the upgrading process. So I decided to build one from sourced and printed parts.
I want to use my knowledge to give it my touch without cutting corners ( so obvious in cheap printers)
#####I would like to get your ideas, what components use or how to design a particular part, and don't hesitate to ask questions.
###HOW
#####Stay tuned updates are coming
#####Parts that are printed with red are only drafts ( two walls, 10% infill) only as proof of concept and could be changed. Grey parts are printed in final quality, 4 walls, and 60/80 % infill. I link all separately published parts.
####List of used printed parts (mine or someone else's)
######Mine
######Other
M5x25 22 (cylindrical with hex hole)
M5 washer 22
I bought a frame kit from Aliexpress, https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_dYly74L it has predrilled all holes so it was pretty easy to build a frame (do not tighten all too much, you will disassemble it few times in future). But it is only the beginning of the journey.
Parts: Extrusion, M5x25 22pcs,M5 washer 22pcs,
To build X-axis I used my other project https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4313356
(BOM to be updated)
Here we are, this is my current task as I want to do different sorts of carriage than stock.
Why? All wheels are assembled with radial bearings and even if they can hold some thrust load in the long term it is neither reliable nor precise solution. So I will redesign Y carriages entirely. Instead of Z this time I will use Openbuilds Mini wheels.
And sorry, I will try to use the material that I have at hand.
Carriages are done. And also support frame for bed. I decided to give it come weight reduction treatment so some profiles are not necessary. And after making the bed I will test rigidity and maybe remove some parts further. Also finished Y belt drive - motor mount and belt tensioner. I decided to design it so it wouldn't overhang frame ( base profile) unlike others. For testing purposes, I use old Ender 3 board and video proves it is moving :-D
parts used: 3 packages of 10 mini wheels (http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_dSqttV7)
Make feet with slot for paneling, and now waiting for delivery
Further weight reduction and finished printable crossbar (surprisingly stiff ) so more AL profiles removed ( you can still use them if you wish)
#####Total cost per project as of today 246€
