Description
I have been using my dog-bone cable ties with rubber bands for years, but the rubber bands age and eventually snap under tension, and it's very irritating. So I took the dog-bone shape and adapted it to use string or yarn instead of rubber bands, and it works well! It kinda looks like a jigsaw piece now, so we called it a JIG-TIE. You can use different colours of string to colour-code your stuff, and you can also tie labels to it easily.
To use this, tie your string to the narrow part of the jig-tie (a pile hitch or cow hitch is fine) and wrap the string around the thing you're tying. To end the tie, wrap the string around the narrow part 2-3 times, then wind the string between the overhanging lip of the dog bone and the slit, as shown in the photo.
The circular hole is for putting a bunch of these on a carabiner or string to organise them.
