Mushroom Gourd Birdhouse 1

This birdhouse was a commissioned work for someone special. I modeled it to replicate the ones made with real "gourds" but instead of hanging from a hook, I made the back flat to be able mount to a wall, fence or any flat surface. It has a 1.25in. entrance to accommodate Sparrow, Swallows or other similar sized species. It has adequate ventilation and weather-sealed, the back panel is easily removable for cleanout.

Print it laying on the back and use generous supports under the neck of the main house body. Use CA glue or an appropriate adhesive to permanently bond the perch and the mushroom cap roof.

Print with PETG or ABS, then paint to help with UV stability. I put a thin layer of bondo on mine and sanded it down to get it as smooth as possible. Make sure you use a wide brim on the mushroom cap since it prints on the side.
