(Please also read the update notes at the end.)
This filament sensor mount is designed based on the FLSUN series but could be used for several other models too. It comes with several special useful features:
- its angle is easily tunable (see pics) to fit spools of different sizes and tolerate different feed-angles of the same spool (the feed-angle will be different when the spool is full of or to be out of filaments);
- flexible design for the screw holes, which could fit to most (if not all) of the filament sensors in the market;
- a little hook at the base helps organise the sensor cable and prevents the interference from the repositioning of the sensor (see pic);
- the mount can be contracted down to a very low profile when not in use (see pic);
- the design enables accurate positioning of the sensor to line up with both the intruder input hole and the filament spool (see pic).
Hope this mount fits your need and let me know what you think. Have fun!
NOTES for printing:
The design of the parts consider seriously the printing ease and quality, so it's recommended that you orient the four parts as shown in the picture when printing them in order to achieve the quality intended by the design.
NOTES for assembling:
- The four parts can be easily mis-oriented when being assembled, so please look into the pictures so that you assemble them correctly and make it function as originally designed for.
- To mount the sensor onto the holder, you could simply screw the sensor into it without the need of nuts. If you're an FLSUN user, you could use the spare screws provided in the purchase (as shown in the picture).
- The spacing between the screw holes in the base is 32mm +/- 3mm (i.e. 29-35mm). The FLSUN has a standard 32mm.
- The spacing between the screw holes in the sensor mount is 20mm +/- 2mm (i.e. 18-22mm). A typical sensor normally has a standard 20mm.
Update (22 June 2020):
I uploaded another set (4 pieces) of a newer version (where the file names contain the key word "enhanced") while keeping the original. The newer (enhanced) version is supposed to be stronger, with thicker holders both at the base and at the arm. The screw was modified too to fit better to both the base and the arm. The "nut" is actually unchanged.
I actually still use the original design myself, and the enhanced version was created following some feedback of a user, who had the holder on the base broken. I hope this new "enhanced" design would be able to solve problems of this kind.
