WARNING !!!

DO NOT LOOK THROUGH YOUR TELESCOPE WITHOUT PROPER LIGHT FILTERS !!!

That said, you probably all know that doing so will cause immediate blindness, but I have to give this warning for obvious reasons. I haven't printed this yet, but it might even be an addition for lunar observation to reduce atmospheric distortion.

The hole is 70mm the circle in the middle is the edge of the secondary mirror with a diameter of also 70mm. Although this part is to big for most printers you can always ask a printservice like https://www.key23d.com/ to print it for you.

This company is excluded from the non-commercial license and located in Elst - Gld. The Netherlands as can be checked on the website.

So... I have a cap with a hole in it...
Now what?

When I designed this I wanted the filter mount to be SAFE and flexible. In other words, I had no clue what filter I was going to use...

So design "plan"

  • must fit between the secondary mirror and the edge of the cap.
  • must be able to print it on a FDM printer with minimal support.
  • hole must be small enough to bring down atmospheric distortion, but also big.

UPDATE:
I added some tabs after the remark of user https://www.thingiverse.com/rosscadguy/designs and will create some more things, because I'm on a printing spree !!!
