Description

This is yet another attempt to shoehorn a DJI air unit into a frame that wasn't designed for it. While I designed this for a TBS SourceOne it would probably solve the issues that many other frames have as well. Unfortunately, it makes use of some 'offset standoffs' that aren't available commercially. While they aren't hard to make, they do require specialized equipment and take some time to produce. If some manufacturer would make a bunch in bulk they could be really cheap and they'd make these builds a lot easier. Regrettably I think that this is the only application for such a product, so it will probably never happen :-(.

There are several reasons that I went with this odd design. I didn't want to sacrifice the structural rigidity of the middle standoffs behind the FC, and I also didn't want to weaken the rear with a plastic extension. I flipped over my middle plate to make more room in the stack area (like the new SourceOne V3) but I still didn't have the room for my 4-in-1, the FC and the air unit in there. (I probably could have got this approach to work with longer stack screws, but I couldn't make it work with the hardware I had on hand).

Protecting the SD card and the antennas was another priority. I included a cover to ensure that the SD card can't pop out of the air unit in a crash, and there are clips to hold the MMCX connectors in place. I neglected to add a hole for the power led or for the pairing button.

This isn't an actual remix, but I was heavily inspired by designs by meekaah and Drib. I didn't use their files, but I recreated their shapes in OpenSCAD and then modified the resulting parameteric files.
