Description
This is a design I made after being inspired by Lauri Turunen. He too has designed a mount which moves the extruder from the side and shortens the Bowden tube. While a great design, his unfortunately only works with QQ-S Pro that has ventilation holes along the bottom of the frame, while mine snaps into the original extruder position from the top.
The reason behind this design is that the original Bowden tube simply is too long at around 800mm. I was unable to get decent corners on my prints due to pressure building up, and retractions were too long.
Before modifications, my retraction length was around 5.6mm, and after this modification, and enabling Pressure Advance in Klipper (pressure_advance: 0.274) I have been able to get down to around 1.4mm retraction with much better seams and print quality.
In order to attach the PTFE tube between the extruder and the mount you'll need a pneumatic connector that allows the 4mm tube to pass through all the way. If I'm not misstaken these usually come with a 1/8" outer diameter (~9.5mm) and the model has been designed with some clearande at 9.8mm.
This design was made for genuine Bondtech BMG extruders and there are both left and right hand versions included. Enjoy!
