Description
This mount for a standard filament runout sensor using a 605ZZ bearing allowing the runout sensor to pivot as the X Carriage moves left to right reducing torque loading on the extruder stepper at the extremes. With this thing the "nose" of the sensor casing moves to follow the position of the X carriage as the filament feeds through.
I'm using this on My Hictop (i3) 3DP-17 and Graber i3 it should work for any direct drive printer where the filament is fed from above the printer.
It is attached to 2020 extrusion using M5 Bolt and T-Nut.
Ensure that the cables are not under tension where they plug into the sensor or you may eventually get stress fractures in the wires causing false triggering of the runout sensor.
Required parts:
1 x 605zz bearing
2 x M3 x 25mm bolts
2 x M3 Nuts
1 x 8mm M5 Bolt
1 x M5 T-Nut
Update 25 Oct 2020
Added a Bracket to enable use of this runout sensor mount on an I3 type frame
25mm M5 Bolt should be used if this bracket is utilised along with an M5 nut (captive in the bracket).
Supports may be needed for the i3 Bracket Captive nut if your printer doesn't do bridging well.
