Description

The N-Type sockets can be found on many devices with RF outputs/inputs. In order to protect these sockets from mechanical damage and dust when they are not used for a long time, I have designed this cover.
A simple cover to put it on loosely wasn't ideal in my opinion. Since I don't expect this part to be exposed to high temperatures, I have decided to use PLA as the printing material.
When designing the 3D model, I took into account that this material also shrinks slightly when it cools down.
The model has a slightly larger inner diameter than the socket itself. Inside it has 3 edges in which a thread is cut when it is screwed on for the first time. During this process, you should therefore make sure that the cover is screwed on straight.
By design, I have tried to make it sure that this process is very easy and almost completely effortless. The 3 edges are therefore not cut particularly deep. One of the images uploaded here is a microscope picture of one edge after it has been screwed on and off.

The hexagon in the rear part of the hood shouldn't invite the use of a wrench! It is only intended to prevent the fingers from slipping off when unscrewing.

PLA is not anti static! But the inner contact of all plugs in all my devices is much shorter than the outer thread and there is no chance that it will come in contact with this 3D-printed part.
