Covid Swab Grabber

The swabs used for COVID-19 testing are inserted into a sterile container and sent to a lab for testing.

At the lab, the technician needs to extract the swab from the container which can be challenging for some swab types.

This object helps the technician to grab the swab without touching it.
This object is used once and thrown away with the swab.

Although we are not happy with that waste of material and energy, we needed to go with this solution until a better one exists.

The object was designed to use as few material/time/energy to be printed on a consumer 3D FDM printer.

The upper side of the opening has a V shape to ease grabbing a swab sticking to the container side.

Some printers may have difficulties producing the v2 hence I also uploaded the v1 model.

This was designed for both 0.4 and 0.6 nozzles and should be printed at the lowest printer definition. The goal is to produce as quickly as possible at the sacrifice of the print quality.
