Description

This magnetic jig makes changing jointer knives a breeze. Just place the magnetic end over the knife and it will keep it at the correct height while tightening.

Two models available one for 6" and one for 4" jointer.
Magnet size - 1/8" x 5/16" (or roughly 8x3mm)

There is an additional 6" that is slightly larger that allows for 12mm magnets.

Installing the magnets is critical in order to get them straight.

  • Put parchment paper down on jointer table to keep epoxy squeeze out off the surface.
  • Place the magnets on surface and dry fit the jig on them, making sure each is in a recess.
  • Remove jig and lightly clean off the magnets with some rubbing alcohol.
  • Mix up some epoxy and place a dab on each magnet, not too much.
  • Place the jig down on the magnets, making sure it's properly aligned.
  • Push down firmly and evenly, use a big book or wood and a weight.
  • Let set for about an hour even if using 5min epoxy because the magnets will be cold.
  • Slide the jig off and ideally let sit in room temperature over night to ensure the epoxy sets up hard.
  • Use a straight edge, confirm the magnet's are all on the same plane.

Similar to other magnetic sets on the market, just let the knife hit the magnets at TDC. Loosen them enough so you can still push down gently to ensure they are correctly positioned.
