Description
This is a part cooling fan duct for the chad mod with a E3D volcano hotend. I printed two test cubes, one with the fan on and another with the fan off. Pretty east to tell the difference. Also the X was on the side opposite the fan output.
I included a step file for easy modding.
There is no impact the the usable x-y space on the printer. The Volcano does eat up about 9mm of the z -axis.
I was playing with my Volcano when I printed it. 1mm nozzle with 0.8mm layer height and 1.2mm line width. It printed well, but I will say the the 0.8mm layer height is pushing it a bit. 0.56mm works a lot better, 0.36 works really good too.
I would suggest PETG or other high temp material for a finished print. I'm still running the latest prototype I printed in PLA, which has worked just fine with printing PLA. I doubt that it would hold up to printing high temp materials that want an enclosed print volume.
