Description
Dorothy Arzner was a director in Hollywood from 1927-1943. The only female director in Hollywood during her tenure. When given her first directing job, she was presented with a red "Director's Megaphone" for directing talent. She upgraded it by putting a mask in the front and turning it into a director's finder as well.
This design is inspired by that simple and elegant innovation. It is certainly not an exact replica, nor does it intend to be. It does however do largely the same thing. It works as a handheld megaphone and as a director's finder. This version is designed to show 50mm in either silent gate or super 35 gate. I printed it in burgundy, but perhaps an even more accurate color would be a dark red.
