This is a remix from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4628099
I added a couple of tweaks and made it tension adjustable so your spool wont un-spool itself

It fits in replace of stock arm with ZERO modifications

There is a stepped spindle & nut as well as a tapered spindle & nut

Printing in PLA provides plenty of strength

Requires:
2 x 608 bearings
13cm of 8mm threaded rod
1 8mm nylon nut
1 8mm regular nut
1 8mm washer

Position & Supports:

Spindle Mounting Nut = small side down down with supports touching the bed. This will ensure the locking wing is shaped correctly

Spool Spindle = large side down with supports touching the bed. This will ensure the bearing seat is shaped correctly. The upper bearing seat I added a taper below it for proper printing

Spool Tension Nut = large side down NO supports

Spool Alignment Nut = large side down NO supports

How to assemble:

  1. Thread the nylon nut onto the threaded rod until the rod is flush with the top of the nut.
  2. Insert the threaded rod into the hex side of the spindle mounting nut
  3. Press the 608 bearing into the spindle. 1 in each end
  4. Install the spindle with the bearings installed onto the threaded rod
  5. Install the 8mm washer onto the threaded rod
  6. Press the regular 8mm nut into the hex end of the spool tension nut. This will be a tight fit.
  7. Install the spool tension nut onto the threaded rod. This does not require very much tension to work. BE GENTLE BARELY SNUG
  8. Install the assembly into the Spool arm holder on your CR-6
  9. Install a roll of filament
  10. Install the spool alignment nut and snug down to the filament spool
  11. Now you can rock the spool back and forth and adjust the tension nut only to leave a touch of drag on the spool.

If you do not want any drag at all just replace the Tension nut with a nylon nut and don't tighten the spindle to the mounting nut.
