Description

The stock suction mount for my dashcam kept falling down and I couldn't find a different mount that I likd. I liked the idea of mounting it just under my rearview mirror so I made a mount that can use the same screw hole that holds the mirror.

I based my design on the stock mount so I could reuse the camera attachment and adjustment screw; the only thing I didn't use was the suction piece.

The stock screw for my rearview mirror wasn't very long so I had to get a longer one. I used a button head, #10-24 x 1/2" screw (Imperial) with a hex-key head (doesn't have to be Torx like your car).

I don't know if my screw has the same thread size as yours, so check your car's mirror screw to make sure you get the right thread size and measure to get a screw long enough to remount your mirror.
Here's a good guide to figuring out what thread size you need.

After printing, you'll need to glue the arms to the stem piece (did this so that the arms could print flat). Super glue does well for this.

When screwing the mount in, it's okay for the plastic underneath the screw to sink and deform a bit; tighten only enough to tightly secure the mirror to the backplate. If you overtighten, you'll break through the bottom of the mount.
