Rotary Axis for Laser Engraver

This mechanism will help in working with a laser engraver when processing of cylindrical surfaces is required. It is connected instead of the motor along the Y-axis. After that, it is necessary to make adjustments to the steps per mm in the settings of the GRBL controller so that the engraving geometry remains correct. To use this rig, the laser engraver must be mounted much higher than it is used for flat surfaces. For example, you can cut cubes from a block of wood of the required height or put objects under the legs of the machine that will be convenient for you to work with. I am sure that you will cope with this task even without my instructions.

Also added to this design is the adjustment of the distance between the drive shafts, which allows the processing of cylindrical surfaces of different diameters. Adjustment is carried out using handles that move the slider of one of the shafts inside the side struts.

At first I wanted to make the cover of the slider compartment removable, but this entailed many technical difficulties associated primarily with dimensions, and in the end I decided to install it on glue. After all, no special service is required there. Unless it can be lubricated with a special Teflon grease, which does not have an aggressive effect on plastic, but for this operation there is access through the slot.

I also want to draw your attention to the design of the locks, which are used to fix the tubes connecting the side bases. I have used such locks more than once, and they seemed to me very convenient. It is based on wedging inside the pipe when the screw is clamped. I'm sure everything is clear in the picture. But if you wish, you can simply glue it with epoxy.
