Summary

Shorty center console to cover up the gaping hole left behind when removing the stock transmission tunnel cover, as well as cover the lower shifter boot.

This design allows you to use your stock NB Miata shifter boot and shifter boot retainer. You'll probably need to open up the screw holes on your boot retainer, but nothing that would prevent you from going back to stock. This attaches to the center stack using the stock screws from the original piece.

If printed "right side up", the supports will be nearly impossible to remove without damaging/destroying the boot retainer screw pegs.</p><p>For printing in one piece, have at it. I don't have experience with this printed whole, but I don't imagine it would be a problem. Just print upside down and with your favorite supports and temperatures.</p><p>I don't have a printer large enough to do this in one piece, so I've included STL's to print in two pieces:<br>Print the "front" with the cut side down, using tree support. Use whatever bed adhesion you need to get it to stick. If my Ender 3 can print this one, yours can too.<br>Print the rear upside down, with the boot retainer screws facing the sky.Use whatever supports you like best; I used tree supports.</p></div>

Post-Printing

Either sand/primer/paint this to your desired finish, or take the lazy way like I did and make a simple cover out of cheap vinyl from the fabric store and some spray adhesive. Do a better job than I did and find a fabric that actually matches the Miata dash, please.

For printing in two pieces, I used some super glue to "tack" the two halves together, then coated the thing in two part epoxy. Its been in my car for two or three months now, and survived a few removals/reinstalls. It's not a structural part and shouldn't ever face any kind of force, so high strength adhesive isn't strictly required.

How I Designed This

Lots of planes and gradually adjusting the shape to a smooth taper, then loft the surface across those sketches. Derived sketches for forward attachment points were made from an old center console cover design that I can't find any original author on.
