Blue Antelope by Natural History Museum of Vienna

3D scan of a mounted skin of the only remaining female blue antelope created by the Natural History Museum of Vienna under license CC Attribution-NonCommercial. Hippotragus leucophaeus was the first large mammal species in Africa to be driven to extinction by humans in modern times. No more than six specimens of this species are known to have been preserved, and this one is the only remaining female, which makes it one of the most exceptional specimens of the NHM Vienna.

The Vienna specimen is from the 1780s and has been part of the collection since 1806. Due to preservation reasons the valuable object is not displayed in the exhibition of the museum. It is located in the underground storage facility of the NHM Vienna.

• Geometry decimated from ~ 200k triangles to ~ 110k
• downsized to 5% of the original size
• body aligned and the soles cut flat
• STL file without errors

Note: The model should probably still be sliced, otherwise a lot of support material will be needed.
