Description
This is a parking sensor housing to be installed into the car jack tubes of your Riley.
I designed it in 2 pieces so that it can be quickly removed without tools if you need to jack up your car.
There is a top and a bottom part to the housing as the sensor needs to points upwards. These are printed on the housing as “T” and “B”. Also be aware that the sensor itself has a top and bottom
I only used 2 of the 4 sensors, but for better coverage you may like to add a 3rd sensor in between these 2. I didn't as I have also installed a reversing camera which gives me a view down the middle.
The wiring goes from the reversing light and the 2 sensors to the rear parcel shelf where the sensor unit is hidden under a blanket as I only listen for the beeper, I don’t look at the lights that are built into sensor unit.
I hope it all goes well, and any feedback would be appreciated. I enjoy sharing with enthusiasts.
My first designed had them point upwards by 2 degrees, but I have now included housings that point up by 5 degrees and by 10 degrees.
I USE THE 10 DEGREES BECAUSE AS THESE ARE INSTALLED CLOSE TO THE ROAD COMPARED TO MODERN CAR THEY WERE BEING TRIGGERED BY A SLIGHT SLOPE IN THE ROAD YOU ARE REVERSING UP.
For complete coverage you may like to add a 3rd sensor in between these 2. I didn't as I have also installed a reversing camera which gives me a view down the middle. (I'll provide the 3D files for the mounting of the reversing camera inside the car at some stage.)
PLEASE provide photos and feedback, so that I can improve it.
Enjoy & travel well.
