Description

I had been looking for a nice, simple butter dish to leave out on the counter. I couldn't find anything that didn't seem like it came from the 1950's. I had been using my 5.4oz Apilco Ramekin dishes that I had bought from William Sonoma years ago, but no one makes a lid for these type dishes. These dishes are available from a lot of different manufacturers. They are made for things like creme brulee or custard. They are nice attractive dishes, so I decided to make a lid for the ones I had, to store butter. One dish conveniently holds one stick of butter.

This lid as modeled will fit a Ramekin dish with an inside diameter of approximately 78.2mm, or 3.080in. If you have a dish with a different inside diameter, you can just scale up or down the lid size to fit your dish. Again, this file should be a direct fit for an Apilco Ramekin from William Sonoma, but should be easily made to fit any other brand or size. The fit is slightly on the loose size since these dishes are not exactly all the same dimensions.

I printed this in ABS plastic, with the bottom face down on the print bed. The support can be a pain to remove, but if printed in ABS it can be sanded and sealed with acetone when done. Some will say abs is not food safe, but I have always made sure to fully seal the surfaces with a heavy acetone rub so that there is no absorption or off gassing of the plastic.
