This has been updated on Printables, please go there to get the latest files:
https://www.printables.com/model/408488-raspberry-pi-4-quick-release-latching-mount-remix-
This is a Raspberry Pi 4 case and latching wall mount. It is designed to securely hold the Pi 4, but is also easy to release it by just throwing the latch open. The latch has a (pen) spring detent which helps give some resistance, but if you don't have the pen spring it may be possible to omit that part and it will probably still work.
The mount also has spaces to hold a couple microSD cards, in case you are like me and often don't shut down the Pi correctly. It's handy to keep some spare cards ready to go, in case the working SDcard gets corrupted (it has only happened twice in several years and an easy fix).
The case is a remix of Malolo's screw-less Raspberry Pi 4 Case, with a modified base to include a dovetail rail. However, this can work with any of the covers (or tops) for Malolo's case design.
I included a remixed a cover for a 40mm fan, and added some vent holes, which I may post separately as well (this required Fan40_Sled.stl from Malolo's original design https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3723561/files).
There are two bases included (each has a version with integrated supports for the rails):
This is a plain base with no holes:
Pi4_Latching_case-5V-CASE-BASE-PLAIN.stl
Pi4_Latching_case-5V-CASE-BASE-PLAIN-SUPP.stl
This base has a hex pattern:
Pi4_Latching_case-5V-CASE-BASE-HEX.stl
Pi4_Latching_case-5V-CASE-BASE-HEX-SUPP.stl
I'm throwing in my "special" base which uses M3 screws too , but it's not for everyone (it requires opening the mounting holes on the pi using a 1/8" drill bit). The "special" version also requires printing the "B" part as support (see pics). I did a write up on my site on how to get this effect on another design, so check it out if you are considering printing this "special" base: http://www.mystoopidstuff.com/printing-the-hexled-panel-screens
Pi4_Latching_case-5V-CASE-BASE-M3-SPECIAL-A.stl
Pi4_Latching_case-5V-CASE-BASE-M3-SPECIAL-B.stl (this gets printed as support)
This will require the following hardware:
(1) M3x12mm cap head screw
(1) M3 washer
(1) M3 locknut
(1) spring from a ball point pen
Regarding the springs, I specifically used some I bought on Ebay (search for "spring spare ball pen part 424"). They would be the type used for a retractable ball point pen.
Please pardon the poor quality of my print, I need to clean out the extruder and do some maintenance on it.
The STEP file is included for easy remixing.
If you find these models useful, please post a like or a comment with some pics of your prints.
I regularly update my current projects and other things I'm working on at my blog.
And if you like some of the stuff I design, you can follow me here or on Printables, to see what new stuff I post.
Thanks for looking!
