Description

A modular edge frame for carpets that is sloped and makes it easier to use the carpet with equipment that has small wheels, such as vacuuming robots or office chairs. A robotic vacuum cleaner may have a problem getting back on the carpet without this edge if the carpet ends between 0.5 and 1 robot length from a wall or furniture, as the wheels appear to get stuck on the edge, which is why I made it. It also prevents corner lifting, because the carpet corners lift when kicked by humans or impacted by items that they might drag on the floor. The edge should go around the whole exposed edge of the carpet, so either the whole circumference using four corners, or just the edges that aren't under or touching the furniture or walls (that's where the terminators can be used). With this usage, it should remain under the carpet by friction alone, but you may glue or screw the ends to the floor for extra stability. Be sure to get rid of any elephant foot your 3D printer makes either by settings, or post printing with a knife, or it will tend to curve outwards slightly. The height of this model is 6mm, because that's the uncompressed thickness of most generic carpet edges where I live, but it should work with or be easy to adapt to carpetrs of different height.
