Description

A thing I created to learn how to create and print 3d models with my new Ender 3 Max, and of course be useful.. It is a work in progress although fully functional already I intend to modify so it clips onto top v rail instead of having to remove screws to slide it in.

It features 2 LED light bars which are offset along y to be more or less equal distance from the nozzle to provide a reasonably even light across the print area.

I used 10mm LED strip with 5050 LED's from amazon here..

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07K1G8JJX

With a 12v power plug and core speaker wire sized 22AWG - anything bigger is not going to fit the cable holders on the printed parts!

I did not bother with a switch, I just turn them on at the wall along with the printer.

The V-rail covers are remixed from the following Thing to make them a tighter fit and added cutouts for the veble entry/ exit. So big thank you to sheffdog for the covers. I have not printed these yet so no guarantees they will work but I will print them as soon as I get a bit of time and update the info and pictures

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:832077

Position the parts lengthwise across the bed, good practice with long parts to reduce throwing the bed around greatly.

the light bars have some supports built in for the knobule that fits in the v-rail, that will need cleaning out after printing.

If the v-rail fittings on the beams and light bars are tight, then clean up rails and especially the male parts on the beams as you may have a wee bit of elephants foot tightening it up, with minimal post I got them to slide quite easily onto each other so should be fine.

As I said above, I am looking at making the beams a snap fit onto the top rail to make fitting easier and remove the need to removes screws from the printer, if you want this mod sooner than later drop me a comment and I will prioritise it.

I will also add solid beans when I get time as an alternative, the triangulated beams look much nicer IMO but obviously adds a lot to the print time.

Any questions, drop me a comment.

Enjoy
