*** UPDATE: 12-mm version added ***
Added a 12mm version for EVEN thicker domino tiles. I had no idea this size even existed, so thanks to user @FugeeMan for making me aware of it. I hope you enjoy! And happy printing to all! :)

*** UPDATE: 9.5-mm version added ***
Added a 9.5mm version for thicker domino tiles. I found that 2 of my own sets were of different dimensions (one 8.5mm thick, the other 9.5mm), so I figured I'd upload both in case you run into the same trouble I did. This new version is also a little thinner to save a bit more filament. If there's interest, I can do the same to the 8.5mm version as well.

Also, @bneedhamia moved his card holder, which inspired this domino holder (and its unorthodox printing orientation), over to Cults3D. Go check it out there to admire the great design and/or print one for yourself! (https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/three-tier-playing-card-holder-with-lattice-back)

Original Post:

I scoured Thingiverse and other sites for a suitable domino tray for my liking. I found several, and most of them worked well, but they used a ton of filament and were bulky, or just not quite what I was looking for. So I set out to make something that could be far more stream-lined and optimized. This is the result of my optimizations, and I'm rather proud of it! I was inspired by another great design on Thingiverse: the "Three Tier Playing Card Holder with Lattice Back" by @bneedhemia (https://www.thingiverse.com/bneedhamia/designs). His excellent, minimalist design got me thinking about the best way to optimize the domino holder that I had so desired to find. Thanks to his outside-the-box thinking, I was able to wrap my own brain around this, so kudos to him!

In my testing of the final product, I found I could stack a maximum of 21 dominos on the tray when they are oriented vertically. (Each domino is about an inch wide, there are 3 rows on the tray, and the tray is about 7" wide, so it follows that 21 should fit vertically). As shown in the photos, the tiles will fit horizontally as well, but you just don't get as many of them on the tray at once. And since you're certainly as interested in optimization as I am if you've read this far, it'd be silly to use them that way unless you're nearing the end of a round. :)
