This is an attachment for the RepRapGuru Prusa i3 v2 printer, to mount the Universal Filament Spool Holder, using a 12"-long threaded rod. It puts the weight of the spool on the sturdiest part of the printer's frame.
- Print each part (but two of
square-rod-top.stl)
- Buy a 12"-long 1/4" square bar and cut it in half, to make two 6"-long square bars.
- Insert the square bars into the printed left and right mount parts. Depending on your printer tolerances, you may need a rubber mallet to tap the rod in.
- Insert the other ends of the square bars into the printed square-rod-top parts, taking care to have them rotated in the proper orientation.
- Take apart the weird spool roller that came with the printer - you'll need the four 25mm long M3 screws that came with it.
- Remove the four screws on the top of the printer frame, where the printed left and right mount parts will go.
- Attach the printed left and right parts to the top of the frame, using the 25mm screws. The top surface may not be flat -- in order for the square bars to be perfectly vertical, you may need to insert two washers under the top acrylic plate for each of the four screws, as shown in one of the photos.
- Insert your Universal Filament Spool Holder assembly into the U-shaped holders on top!
