Sand Block for Dry Wall with Vacuum connection

I had to repair some plaster wall before painting them.
For many reasons my plaster, my surface was ugly after repair :-(

So... The solution was... sanding.

I had a kind of grid sanding paper that works really well on plaster but that does a hell of dust so I had to find a way to do a sanding block on which I could fix the grid sanding paper and connect my vacuum.

The design I came out with is incredibly efficient.
There is no need to push the block against the wall. The vacuum suction does it all and one only need to move slowly the block.
Even flat against the wall, there is enough flow to avoid the vacuum to emit the alert (due to insufficient flow o clog) and this flow coming from the perimeter catches any dust particle that would try to escape ;-)
No dust at all in the room and I could recover a really nice finish, ready to be painted.

Disclaimer: I do own a really good vacuum with vibrating filters that NEVER clog whatever I do with it.

What you need:

• Grid sanding paper
• Adhesive foam (10mm width - 3mm - 4mm thickness). Usually sold to insulate old windows.
• 1x 40mm 90° female-female PVC tube
• 1x 40mm T female-female-female PVC tube
• small piece of 40mm PVC tube
• 2x M5 nut and bolt
• Good vacuum
