Remix of JWST hanging wall model

This is a remix of JWST hanging wall model by floribot.

The original had a wood backer board. The idea is to print the segments thicker so they can be fully 3D printed. This remix creates some slots in the bottom of the segments with some small pieces to help align and glue the segments together. I don't recommend printing the center as a solid piece so I have included a "blank" mirror.

The STL file is a placeholder. You will need to set the Openscad variables to your liking. It's a lot easier to use Openscad than to make these customizable on Thingiverse. There are 3 Openscad files. One for the mirror segments, one for connector pieces to align and glue it all together, and one to make a "mirror blank" for the center. I have included some notes in the Openscad files to make it easier. I recommend you print a test piece after you make any changes to be sure the mirror segments or any of these parts fit.

Glue; use whatever you think is best, but I recommend SCIGRIP 16 acrylic glue or super glue. Epoxies for plastics can also work well.

You will need to print 6 of each of the segments with 0, 2, and 3 shields. One additional 0 shield segment and the mirror blank for the center. You will need by my count 42 of the connector pieces.

UPDATE: 5/23/22 Finally completed and uploaded a picture. Had to take it from the floor to reduce reflections. I used the hanger by davidcmaken to enable hanging on the wall. Brilliant idea!! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5343435

UPDATE: 5/8/22 Changed the settings slightly for the mirror blank and reuploaded. Yes, I'm still trying to finish this print. I only have the 6, 0 shield segments to go!

UPDATE: 2/7/22, ok I should have marked this as a work in progress. It's taken me a couple of days and some test prints to get this dialed in. I now have one of the segments printed and I am happy with the connectors which I made wider. I have uploaded new Openscad files for the segments and for the connectors with them dialed in how I am going to print these. Note, I'm using mirror segments that are different from the original thing post, but they are the same size. Do print one of the segments and test it for fit before you commit to printing the whole project.
