Description

2-part case for 12V -> 24V DC boost circuit (ebay 271416568548 "DC-DC 12V to 19V24V15V Adjustable Boost Converter Power Module Battery Charge"). I'm using this to take 12V battery power and drive 24V into a PoE remote camera setup (too much cable loss to work directly at 12V) but I needed a case for the bare PCB assy as it comes from ebay. Tested at 24V @ 1 A output, where it is 88% efficient and doesn't get even slightly warm. There is one slight mod needed to the top half of the case: the green terminal block has a small ridge at one side I didn't model, which interferes with the plastic sidewall. It is a tight fit even without the ridge. I fixed that quickly with some sidecutters. Maybe I'll add that notch to the case for v2 if I get around to it. This design includes a cutout under the terminal block for the input and output wires I soldered there (more reliable than screw connections). There is a small hole directly over the trim pot for a thin screwdriver for output voltage adjustment.
Assembles with 4x M3 x 25mm screws, mine are Pololu #1077 and the threaded part measures 24.8 mm. Any length over 25.0 mm will not work properly. There are no nuts; this design relies on the M3 screws biting into the 3 mm length of plastic boss on the bottom part of the case. Not too strong but seems to work (at least with my particular printer, UM2).
