Complete Overhaul of Techna_Animas' amazing design. I wanted a design file exactly how it is in the anime, where the handle and the scabbard matched flush. I liked the handle design of Technas the most so I went with his design as a base.
What I did to his design:
SWORD
- Widened the blade to 32mm
- Reduced the thickness of the blade to 8mm. (flimsy but support rod keeps it strong)
- Reduced the male pegs on each connection by 8% so they're not as snug
- Widened the handle to 40mm
- Included a 4mm hole through the sword, for an 1/8" support rod
- Added an additional blade segment to get a full sized sword.
SCABBARD
- Modeled it from the handle file, so the scabbard matched flush with the handle
- The scabbard blade hole is 13% larger than blade (largest I could fit). Fits snug at first, after sanding the blade it fits perfectly. I'm not sure about painting, paint may rub off the blade.
-Included 2 - 4mm holes for 1/8" rods. Helps line up pieces for gluing and is much stronger than printed pegs.
ASSEMBLY
To get a full sized sword and scabbard you will need to print:
- Handle 1 - x1
- Handle 2 - x1
- Blade Tip - x1
- Blade Middle - x4
- Blade End - x1
- Scabbard Mouth - x1
- Scabbard Middle - x4
- Scabbard End - x1
You will also need to purchase 3 - 1/8" steel rods (cut to shape when assembling). Available at most hardware stores, about $5 ea.
Each part took an average of 4 Hours to print, total print time is about 56 Hours.
The only parts I used supports for were Handle 2 and Scabbard End. I orientated the rounded ends on the print bed.
