This was an experiment to see if I could design a sound suppression device for my airsoft replica. The goal being to print a single piece unit that does not rely on foam for other sound dampening materials. Testing the full length version with an HPA Kythera and 280mm inner, I was able to achieve ~4dbA reduction at ~3cm from the nozzle. Overall, I'm very happy with the results and pleasantly surprised at the amount of sound reduction considering I've never tried something like this before!
There are versions of varying lengths, all designed to fit on a typical AEG outer barrel of approximately 17.65mm diameter with the typical 14mm ccw thread. The outer diameter was sized to fit a shroud with a inside diameter of ~34mm. The print is designed to have a small interference with the threading so it will self-thread however I would recommend not installing/uninstalling it too many times. I also designed the lower end to have a rubber band or zip-tie installed to create a friction fit.
You should see multiple versions in different lengths and styles.
full length = 185mm
small = 130mm
extra small = 100mm
Note that the smaller versions travel much less over the outer barrel so you may encounter alignment issues if it is not a snug fit.
