A3 Spool Box V1 Wide

I increased the width of the original spool box by 1 cm to make sure it fits 8cm wide spools with an inner diameter of 5cm. They would have probably just barely fit in the original design V1, too, but I wanted to be sure. I also used V1, as this allows for larger spools to begin with, and I did not want a door mechanism for the cover anyway.

The images show this wider version, and the fit of a "standard" spool as well as a wider one.

Note: This spool holder part will only fit the newer Adventurer 3 models with four reinforcements on the built-in spool holder! (see here)

Modifications

• The box parts are extended by 1cm

• Increased the length of the part that holds the spool by 13mm to fit larger spools, and to still latch onto the side cover when attached (the side cover has a round insert, and the spool holder is designed to rest on this when the cover is attached for better stability)

• Reduced the length of the part that is pushed over the existing spool holder in the machine, and added an insert (as done here) for a more tight and stable (?) fit. In doing so, the spool -- when inserted -- might now be slightly closer to the machine (now only ~2mm clearance). This is why the additional 3mm are added to the length of the spool holding part.

• Simplified the internal design of the spool holder (avoid some diagonal overhangs) in the hope to improve stability

• Modify the top-most part of the spool holder to have an overhang of ~45 degrees

• Modify the top-most part of the spool holder to be slightly less wide (so that 8cm wide spools with 5cm inner diameter can fit over the spool holder)

Print settings

• Box parts:

  • Fast profile (0.3 layer height)
  • extruder 215 deg, plate 55 deg
  • 15% 3D infill
  • Extrusion ratio: 96% (probably depends on filament)

• Spool holder:

  • Standard profile (0.18 layer height)
  • extruder 218 deg, plate 60 deg
  • 45% Hexagon infill (actually used 25% up to layer 230)
  • Extrusion ratio: 96% (probably depends on filament)
