Tenere 700 Keychain Chain Gauge

Recently added one with the lettering above the face and the chain links modified a little for two colour (higher contrast) printing

Earlier this summer I purchased a brand new 2022 Yamaha Tenere 700.

Recently I felt that the shifts felt sloppy and checked the chain tension.... which was way loose.

I adjusted my chain and was shocked by the difference it made to the overall feel of the bike.

I haven't designed anything new lately and decided that a measuring tool for the chain tension would be good to have on hand. Save's me pulling out a ruler.

The chain tension is to be measured from the chain guide on the swing arm to the center of the chain. The measurement should be between 43 and 48 mm.

If you place the end of the keychain on the end of the chain guide and pull down on the chain... the center of the chain should be within the raised chain on the keychain.
