Description

This little project generates a small indoor TV antenna for DVB-T UHF reception. The antenna itself is based on the Moxon design and consists of two L-shaped active parts in front and one U-shaped reflector part at the back. It is directional and the gain is about 5dB. The antenna frame consists of two identical parts between which the antenna wires are placed into the corresponding grooves and fastened by screwing the two frame parts firmly together.

The antenna stand consists of a rotor plate, a stem and a foot part. The foot has the form of a cross and has screw holes that are arranged as a 75mm and 50mm squares, so that it can not only be used to stand on a flat surface, but it can also be bolted to a standard 75mm or 50mm VESA mount at the rear of the TV set.

The dimensions of the Moxon antenna are parametrized in the SCAD file, so that resonance frequency can be fine tuned to get optimal performance for a particular UHF channel. The antenna parameters A,B,C,D (see picture #3) can be calculated e.g. with the Paul Evans' nice on-line Moxon calculator at http://w4.vp9kf.com/moxon_design.htm. This calculator was also used to get the parameters for the 4 preconfigured configurations for channels 24(498MHz), 36(594MHz), 48(690MHz) and 60(786MHz), for which ready-to-print STL files are provided.
